I also used colors that I really use (well, I use brown A LOT, but the other two colors are not ones I use very much). I don't know if they really even work well together, but I kind of like it. The ribbon I used is actually some scrapbooking trim I picked up at a closeout store. It is like suede, thick and has a rubber backing. I like the look of it, but it sure is hard to tie...probably why it ended up in the closeout store!! lol I also colored Dew Drops with a Sharpie to get the brown I wanted. I am so cheap....I buy most of my embellishments in clear, white and cream and color them myself to make them match.
