OCC challenge - Recycle!

It's Saturday, which means another great challenge over at Our Creative Corner! This week, our host, Silke Ledlow challenged us to use recycled items in our work to celebrate the upcoming Earth Day.
I am such a packrat and I save all kinds of things for future use in projects. The thing I think I save the most are the tags that come off of my girls' clothes. There are some seriously cool tags hanging from jeans today! lol I have fabric ones, faux leather ones, ones that are interestingly shaped, etc. For the OCC challenge, I decided to use one that is a very cool shape and it is chipboard! It came from a pair of my daughter's jeans already shaped perfectly as a bookmark....so that is what it became.

I loved the top flower part and the colors were already nice, so I left that as it was. The best part? It already had a hole and an eyelet set in it for me! I traced around the bottom part of the flower and cut that away on the pink cardstock. Inked the edges of the pink and stamped little flowers in pink and turqoise on it. Added yellow rick rack to the bottom and stamped 'read a book' above it. Finally, I printed off Alice Anya and colored her with Twinkling H2Os to keep with the glitzy look of the existing tag. I attached her to the bookmark with pop dots and added a tiny flower to her headband. I finished it off with some coordinating fibers (can these also be considered part of my recycling because I don't use them all that much anymore?!?!?! lol).
Materials: PAPER: Cascata-pink, ivory (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS: Alice Anya digi (The Greeting Farm), alpha stamps (Studio G), Flowers (Hero Arts) INK: Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko), Splash Metallic-Teal, Pink (Stewart Superior) OTHER: Twinkling H2Os (Luminarte, Inc), Clothing Tag, Yellow Rick Rack, Fibers, Pop Dots, Tiny Flower Punch

Be sure to check out what the other OCC designers created this week!! They are all so amazing!
Have a creatively wonderful weekend!

Funnily enough I have a tag at the side of me from Shelley's jeans - hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmm can I be as adventurous as you ? I doubt it, but I'll have a go.

wonderful use for those tags. I'm not a tag saver, mostly because I don't buy clothes with interesting tags. My life is boring and we shop consignment. *snort* I could use a little more boring!!!

I love your project!!!
