OCC Challenge - Mother's Day

Hey everyone!! It is Saturday and that means time for another fabulous challenge from Our Creative Corner!
I am honored to be hosting May's challenges at OCC. I hope you enjoy playing along with us using the themes that I have chosen. Jennifer Meyer at Stamps and Smiles is going to give away one of her newly released stamp sets to one lucky participant each week in May also! How cool is that?!?! Now I KNOW you all want to play along with us!

Okay, on to the challenge. Let's do Mother's Day. Anything for your mom, mother in law, any mom that you know!! The day is quickly approaching so if you haven't already got cards or gifts made for those special moms, here is a reason to get them done now!

I already have my MIL's card done, so I decided to make a grandma one for my girls to give her.

These new Hope and Grace stamps from The Greeting Farm remind me so much of my little girls. One tomboy, one diva. lol!! I used the little diva looking one for this card. I colored her with a combination of Prismacolor pencils/Gamsol and Twinkling H2Os. I prefer the softness of the pencils for skin tones, but for this sparkly card, I wanted the twinks for the rest. I used a piece of cardstock from DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies Mat Stack to decide my color scheme. I used this paper because my MIL loves butterflies. They have a very significant meaning to her. So, I try to always use a butterfly somewhere on her cards. Sometimes it is subtle (like this card) other times, the focal point of the card. I stamped the sentiment on white and stamped the sun on yellow cardstock (both are from the same set) and painted some details with twinks. Finally, I stamped "Grandma" with a JustRite Stamper and 25 pt. Brayton Font. Put it all together with a large bow to match the one on Hope's shirt.

Materials: PAPER: Colormates-MeriGold, Heritage White, Cascata-Blue (WorldWin Papers), Blossoms and Butterflies (DCWV) STAMPS: Hope and Grace (The Greeting Farm), Rectangle Stamper, Brayton Font (JustRite Stampers), INK: Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko), OTHER: Twinkling H2Os-Pink Azalea, Fern, Gold Dust, Sky Blue (Luminarte, Inc), Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Satin Ribbon, Pop Dots, Corner Rounder, Paper Trimmer/Scissors (Fiskars), Tape N Roller Plus (Kokuyo)

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out what all of the other OCC designers created this week!! Have a creatively wonderful weekened!

This is just gorgeous Robin - I know there is no red cape, but it really brought little Red Riding Hood setting off to Grandma's to mind. I don't know why - everyone else will think I'm crazy!

A really fantastic card.
