Fall Luminaria

Okay, so in case you haven't seen them before, I have previously made winter and spring luminarias for my hallway. I think they are so cute and everyone comments and asks where I got them. As fall approaches, I can't use the spring/summer one any longer. So, I decided to come up with a fall style one. I used my Silhouette to cut out the panels and leaf cutout windows. The leaves that were cut out for the windows are the ones I used to shape and ink to create the leaf embellishments. I did cut out some brown ones in addition to the orange to add some interest. I used some great cardstock from Paper 24/7 for the panels and leaves. For the windows, I used Onion Skin Paper from Paper 24/7. This stuff is cool. It is like ultra thin tissue paper, but durable. It doesn't tear easily and it took inking wonderfully. Originally, I wasn't going to ink the Onion Skin, but white was too stark, so I inked it with a warm yellow Fluid Chalk ink. It looks great unlit and super warm with a candle. For the leaves, I added veins with a stylus and then folded, crinkled and shaped them. Added color with Fluid Chalk Inks and attached to the panels randomly. For a final touch, I added a strip of German Scrap to each panel. I connected the panels with brown wire and my Bind It All. Very easy to make and it is so pretty as is or with a candle in it.
***In the past, I have used a glass votive holder and a tealight inside of these and NEVER left it unattended. Recently, I found gorgeous battery powered votives that flicker just like the real thing. They were inexpensive ($5 for 2) and much safer!!***
