Happy World CardMaking Day 2008!!!!

Hello everyone!! Are you excited about today at all?? I know I am. Originally, my day was going to be spent cutting firewood (yuck). But, I woke up with a terrible cold and dh said that he prefers I don't go out in the damp, windy weather we are having today. Who am I to argue?? Actually, he is going to go out and cut a big load and bring it back and then I will help him stack it here. But, before that, I am cleaning out my studio (feels like a neverending battle for me!!) and then settle in and make some cards!!
Need some inspiration for making some cards? I decided I would try my hand at making up a sketch. It is my first ever....so be gentle please!!! I haven't made the card yet, but I will later today. I thought I would post it here and set a little challenge for the special day. If you make a card (or scrapbook page, ATC...whatever) using this sketch, send a scan to me at rockinrobin1973@hughes.net and I will make a slideshow of all the cards and place it on my blog for the entire month of October. Won't that be fun?!? I thought it would be. I would love to see your interpretations of this sketch. I will also give you the entire weekend to get it done. Send it to me by Monday morning at 8 am EST and I will make a slideshow. I sure hope someone will play! One card on a slideshow, does not a slideshow make!! lol
Here's the sketch:
Now, one more fun thing....if you leave me a comment and let me know what you are doing today (or what you did yesterday if it is already Sunday in your neck of the woods) for WCMD, I will enter you into a drawing for some things to get your Christmas card making started. I am thinking some Cuttlebugged backgrounds along with some other fun Christmas stuff. Need to finish cleaning out my 'hole' before I can be sure, but I promise that I will send something fun!!
So, who wants to play????? I hope YOU do!
Have a creatively wonderful weekend!!

Great sketch! I'm actually working on a beginning card making class. We will be working on Christmas cards since it will be for later this month. I guess it was decided for me to work on cards today! LOL
Maybe I can work your sketch into an example for the group. Thanks for the ideas.

Great sketch. We had football (grandson's) this am and I just
finished a great big pot of tomato
(fresh from the garden) rice soup.
I was going to relax the rest of the day, but must do at least one card using your challenge sketch now!

Lucky you - I had to help my husband get a load of wood today, but thankfully no cutting or splitting, lol! I saw your post on the Ranger group and think it's a great idea. I will try to get something done by tomorrow!

World Card Making Day? I had no idea something like that exsisted! But I had a wonderful day today. I wrote all about it on my blog (with pictures!)and I'm really on roll with ideas for cards!
short summary: I went to Art Journey with my friend Christa. We did a workshop and browsed the shop to our hearts content. Came home with a bag of goodies and already finished two cards at home.
Perfect visit for WCMD! Thanks for the sketch. Will use it tomorrow!
hugs, Linda

I went to a yard sale where I purchased many wonderful rubber stamps. What a fun way to start my day! No card making for me today though.

Hi, I too would love to have a go at this sketch. I am lucky enough to have completed all my jobs for the day, so I am free now to create a card (or two!). Many thanks, I have enjoyed looking at your site. :)

Saw your message on Rangerinklink group! Tried your bandana technique too! Yesterday I had a creative block when given the rare opportunity to do some crafting. Hubby took our little son out for a couple of hours. So I did some sorting out of crafting materials, read up some techniques that I got from Ranger & Marion & you, then ate the choocy my DH bought me & felt sick the rest of the day! Didn't know what a sketch was, we would call it a layout in the UK! Great idea! Thankyou!

I loved your blog site and have put it in my favorites as I intend to visit often. On Saturday, I made 2 waterfall cards and 2 autumn cards for friends to whom I need to send a card this week. Thanks loads for all your work on this site.
