I shoulda went back to bed...

That is what I was thinking yesterday afternoon. My day just started out bad! lol I decided at last minute to sign up for a swap where we each had to make 7 cards using one of the letters from the word BELIEVE. I signed up for E since there was only one spot left and I wanted to see the swap be a success. Well, first, I tried to cut some very thick cardstock that is like velour on my Silhouette. It would only cut halfway through even with 3 passes. I didn't think at the time about the fact that is it like 140 lb paper!!! Duh....but, I had enough of a cut to be able to finish my Es with a craft knife. They did have snowflakes on the font I used, but there was no way I was cutting those!! I used a punch and cut out one snowflake. I also embossed the letters and a panel in the Cuttlebug. I then proceeded to make them all 4 1/4"x5 1/2" cards. Then, saw that they were supposed to be 4"x6"!! Luckily, I hadn't done the card bases, only the fronts. So, I added a punched border along the bottom and figured they would be fine. Oh no....that meant I would only get 1 card per sheet of cardstock and I didn't have 7 sheets of the color I needed!! More fancy thinking and I got them allllllllllll done. Loved them....here is what they looked like:
Materials: Doublemates, High Gloss (WorldWin Papers), Kashmir cardstock (Gmund), Snowflake embossing folder, snowflake punch, Stickles (Ranger), Ribbon, Lace Doily Punch(Martha Stewart)
So, now I take the picture and went in search of details for mailing. Reading the original post about the swap.....make your cards in the traditional RED and GREEN!!! Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, I was so screwed!!! lol I wanted to cry. I even proceeded to send an email to the group telling them I was going to have to drop out!!! I just had enough. It was the most awful morning ever and that was the icing on the cake. Okay, give me a few minutes (hours?) and a few consoling emails and I decided some things: I am NO quitter, I am NO flaker, I will NOT let this swap get the best of me!!!
So, I made 7 more cards....not as elaborate, but they are cute:
Materials: Treasures, High Gloss, Colormates (WorldWin papers), PP (DCWV), Fiskars Sunburst punch, Warm Red, Lime Fluid Chalk Ink, letters-corners-poinsettias (Silhouette), tiny gold beads
Okay, so these are ready to mail. Crisis over!!! So, what you ask did I do with the blue/silver E cards? Well, 6 are being used for a project that me and a friend of mine, Sue Shute are working on. The other one is right here:Materials: Same as original card PLUS Just Rite stamper and Adirondack Pigment ink-Denim
Okay, now on to the good thing about yesterday. My dd, Shelby was finally able to do her play!!! Her and many other high school students have been working hard for almost two months now on the play "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". They have worked long hours (Monday-Thursday from 6-8 plus some nights they worked from right after school until 8!) and put their hearts and souls into this production. It was Shelby's first play and she had one of the main parts. She is a great little actress!!! It was originally supposed to be last Th, Fri and Saturday, but we had a blizzard so it was postponed. They all did a wonderful job last night! I don't have pics because I was videotaping. I hope to figure out my camera and attempt a video of a small portion of the play to put here for everyone to see!!
Finally, I just noticed that I have broken 10,000 visitors since May when I put the counter on my blog!!! That really brightened my day yesterday!!!!! So, I want to say a great big thank you to everyone who takes the time to come visit my blog and leave comments. You all make me want to write posts and share my work!!!! Have a creatively wonderful day!

Yeah, gotta say it was a great save and good job sticking with it. I hate going on when I am not happy with a project. The cards all look great.
