Gift idea

I have been MIA for a few days and I apologize. We had a death in the family and that has kept me quite busy. It is never easy, but it is a fact of life. I am back now and ready to start creating again.

Now, I am trying to complete a few handmade gifts for Christmas. I decided to make small desk calendars for some of my family. I will include these with their other gifts. I got two done today.

First, I made my MIL one. I hope she likes it. I know that I do!! lol This one is made with two blank drink coasters and my Bind It All. The bottom corner is attached on foam tape, so the calendar just tucks behind it and it is still very easy to remove a month when a new one starts. The butterfly is only attached to the calendar base at its body and the wings are bent upward.

I used Basic Grey Scarlett's Letter paper for this one. I thought it seemed warm and would work well with her decor.

Next, I made one for my brother. I thought he could maybe use it on his desk at work. He is a Harley guy all the way. I bought this set of stamps called Route 66 from Artistic Outpost specifically with him in mind. Some of you might remember the birthday card I made for him with this set of stamps back in September. Well, I decided to make him a calendar using Harley Davidson colors. The two base panels of this one are made from Crafty Board because I wanted it taller to allow me to use the motorcycle stamp. All paper is Colormates from WorldWin Papers. One thing that doesn't pick up well in the pictures is the background. I stamped the map from the Route 66 set repeatedly across the whole piece with Versamark and then used copper Perfect Pearls brushed across it. It is subtle, but really cool looking. Then I stamped the Route 66 sign repeatedly over it with Spiced Marmelade Distress Ink. Neither show very well, but in person, they do.
Here is a view of the back of the calendar:
Now, I just need to make 3 more!! I will do that tomorrow, maybe. I also have some other projects that I have been working on for Christmas gifts, but I need to get the 'prop' to put them on from my daughter to take photos. She has hidden it somewhere or taken it to school, so I have to find out where it is without her knowing what I need 'it' for. Have I got you all confused? You will understand better when you see! lol I will share those tomorrow.

Have a creatively wonderful day!
