Home - Artistic Outpost

Hi Everyone! I just popped in to share a card with you all using the Home plate from Artistic Outpost. I really love this whole plate, but I don't seem to use this weathervane stamp very much. So, I pulled it out and made a quick card with it.
I also used colors that I really use (well, I use brown A LOT, but the other two colors are not ones I use very much). I don't know if they really even work well together, but I kind of like it. The ribbon I used is actually some scrapbooking trim I picked up at a closeout store. It is like suede, thick and has a rubber backing. I like the look of it, but it sure is hard to tie...probably why it ended up in the closeout store!! lol I also colored Dew Drops with a Sharpie to get the brown I wanted. I am so cheap....I buy most of my embellishments in clear, white and cream and color them myself to make them match.

Materials: PAPER: Colormates-Light Glorious Green, Doublemates-Autumn Red, Cascata - Coffee (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS: Home (Artistic Outpost) INK: Versafine - Vintage Sepia (Tsukineko), Ancient Page-Bordeaux (Clearsnap) OTHER: Heritage Trim (Karen Foster Designs), Dew Drops (Robin's Nest), Brown Sharpie, Pop Dots, Edge Distresser (Tonic), Tape N Roller Plus (Kokuyo), Paper Trimmer/Scissors (Fiskars)

The Pink Elephant Challenge #12

Hey everyone!! It's time for another super fun challenge from The Pink Elephant! This week is a sketch challenge brought to us by Carol Houghton. I just love her sketches!! They are always so much fun to work with.
Here is the sketch:

This sketch was the perfect layout for belly bands and labels, I thought. So, I decided to make a fun pampering gift set. Wouldn't this be wonderful for a mom on Mother's Day? I know that I would love to receive something like this!

Here is a close-up of the bath salts container. This is a container I picked up at the Goodwill a couple weeks ago for .20. I think it transformed nicely. I just cleaned it really good, added the band and filled with some yummy bath salts.

Here is the candle. Pretty straightforward. I created the belly band that will slide off to burn the candle.

And finally, the gift card to gift with the pampering set. I think my MIL will love this!

Materials: PAPER: Cascata-Coffee, Colormates-Totally Tan, Awesome Aqua (WorldWin Papers), STAMPS: Sentiment (Anna Griffin by Plaid) INK: Memories-Chestnut (Stewart Superior) OTHER: Prima Flowers, Embossing Folders-Swiss Dots, D'Vine Swirls, Silver Brads, Scalloped Scissors

New Items for Sale!

Hi Everyone! I finally took a bit of time and added some new items to my Etsy shop. I had a bunch of puzzle piece magnets that really need some wonderfully loving homes! lol

AND I added a ton of stamps to my sale page HERE. All prices are negotiable. I will be adding a lot more stuff soon...I just did a quick run through a few drawers of stamps and found these that need new homes. Most have never seen ink! I just need to pare down what I have and only keep what I use all the time. I am running out of room!!!

If you ever want to see what I have for sale, I have placed links at the top of my blog that will take you to my Etsy store and my sale page here on my blog.

OCC challenge - Favorite Colors

Hi Everyone!! Things have been super busy around here, hence my quietness. I hope things will settle down soon and life can get back to normal!!
I wanted to pop in though and share my challenge card for Our Creative Corner's challenge this week. This week's challenge is hosted by Silke Ledlow and she is asking us to create a card or project using our favorite color scheme.
My biggest problem is that I don't really have a favorite. I love all color and all color combos. So, I decided to use one that I find myself using alot lately. Pink, green and brown. Here is what I came up with:

Materials: PAPER: Cascata-Chocolate, Colormates-Med Spring Green, Med Pretty Pink (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS: Rectangle stamper, Brayton Font (JustRite Stampers), INK: Memories-Chestnut (Stewart Superior), OTHER: Button Border (Just My Type Set), Swiss Dots Embossing Folders (ProvoCraft), Nestabilities-Circle, Petite Scalloped Circle (Spellbinders), Ribbons (American Crafts), Buttons (Junkitz), Pop Dots

Thanks for stopping by and visiting today! Be sure to check out all of the fabulous creations made by the rest of the OCC design team! Have a creatively wonderful weekend!

SAS Project Tuesday

Hey everyone! I am honored to be able to tell you all that I was asked to create for Stamps and Smiles Project Tuesday blog. Each Tuesday, a new project challenge will be posted for all of you to play along with. This week, Jennifer Meyer asked us all to make a double pocket gift bag. It was really fun to make!!

I used Cascata cardstock for this project, but I think in the future I won't use cardstock, but thicker designer papers. There is alot of folding involved and alot of layers. My sick little bear image was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and gamsol. He is a blast from the past stamp...haven't inked him in YEARS. I also had to use my new ribbon. I picked up sets of ribbon in the Easter clearance stuff at Walmart for .25 a pack. Each pack had two or three different ribbons...this one had the plaid, a white and a blue.
To see what the other designers created and for a link to the complete instructions on how to make this gift bag, head on over to the Project Tuesday blog!

The Pink Elephant Challenge #11

Hi Everyone!! It is Monday and you all know what that means! It's time for another super fun challenge at The Pink Elephant! This week, we are honoring Earth Day on April 22nd with a fun challenge to reuse something on your project. We want to see some fun things used on your cards, layouts, etc rather than tossing them in the trash!
Here is my creation for the challenge:

I used a TON of the tags that came off of my girls' clothing. I am always amazed at the fun tags that are on their clothes. It seems like just as much work goes into the tags as into the clothing itself anymore!! The two long white banner type tags are canvas and I just used the backside. These are attached to their jeans with a cute pin and the style (skinny leg, hipster, etc) is written on them. The banner tag that says "enjoy" is the back of a paper tag from a shirt. The large pink tag hung on a pair of dress pants of Shelby's and I liked the shape, so I just covered it with cardstock. The round tag is actually a gift tag that hung on a gift bag and I loved the rhinestone center, etc. Finally, all of the rhinestones are ones that have fallen off of various jeans after washing. The only thing that was new on this card is the cardstock and Prima flowers.
Materials: PAPER-Cascata (WorldWin Papers), STAMPS-Happy Birthday (Hero Arts), Alpha stamps (EKSuccess), INK-Versafine-Vintage Sepia/Versamark (Tsukineko) OTHER-Embossing Folder-Swiss Dots (ProvoCraft), Prima Flowers, Pearl Ex- Pearl White (Jacquard), Clothing Tags, Rhinestones

Be sure to check out what the rest of the TPE design team has created for the challenge this week!! Thanks for stopping by!

OCC challenge - Recycle!

It's Saturday, which means another great challenge over at Our Creative Corner! This week, our host, Silke Ledlow challenged us to use recycled items in our work to celebrate the upcoming Earth Day.
I am such a packrat and I save all kinds of things for future use in projects. The thing I think I save the most are the tags that come off of my girls' clothes. There are some seriously cool tags hanging from jeans today! lol I have fabric ones, faux leather ones, ones that are interestingly shaped, etc. For the OCC challenge, I decided to use one that is a very cool shape and it is chipboard! It came from a pair of my daughter's jeans already shaped perfectly as a bookmark....so that is what it became.

I loved the top flower part and the colors were already nice, so I left that as it was. The best part? It already had a hole and an eyelet set in it for me! I traced around the bottom part of the flower and cut that away on the pink cardstock. Inked the edges of the pink and stamped little flowers in pink and turqoise on it. Added yellow rick rack to the bottom and stamped 'read a book' above it. Finally, I printed off Alice Anya and colored her with Twinkling H2Os to keep with the glitzy look of the existing tag. I attached her to the bookmark with pop dots and added a tiny flower to her headband. I finished it off with some coordinating fibers (can these also be considered part of my recycling because I don't use them all that much anymore?!?!?! lol).
Materials: PAPER: Cascata-pink, ivory (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS: Alice Anya digi (The Greeting Farm), alpha stamps (Studio G), Flowers (Hero Arts) INK: Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko), Splash Metallic-Teal, Pink (Stewart Superior) OTHER: Twinkling H2Os (Luminarte, Inc), Clothing Tag, Yellow Rick Rack, Fibers, Pop Dots, Tiny Flower Punch

Be sure to check out what the other OCC designers created this week!! They are all so amazing!

The Greeting Farm Club Anya Blog Hop!!!

Oh what fun!! I am participating in the Club Anya blog hop. They are having a release party, blog hop and will be chatting over at Paper Craft Planet!! I personally can't wait to see all of the new stamps! If you arrived here by accident and want to see all of the other blog hop participants, please head over to the Club Anya blog for the list of over 60 bloggers who love Anya!
Here is my share for the night:
I just adore the Miss Anya stamps!! I can't get enough of these. I got a little crazy with this card and layered way more than I normally do, but I had FUN! I started with this polka dot ribbon as my inspiration and went from there. I colored Anya with Prismacolor pencils/Gamsol. I used a red glaze pen on her boots, pleather skirt (lol) and earrings. I also used the pen to add polka dots to her purse. I used the Treading Water punch to add slits on each side of the image. I threaded pink and embossed turqoise cardstock and ribbon through that. I also punched a red strip to put down the middle with a turqoise embossed strip. Cut red triangles and embossed for corners on the main panel. Tied a big bow for the bottom and it was done.
Materials: PAPER: Colormates (WorldWin Papers), STAMPS: Miss Anya (The Greeting Farm), INK: Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko), OTHER: Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Red Glaze Pen (Sakura), Cuttlebug folder-Swiss Dots (ProvoCraft), Treading Water Punch (Fiskars), Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Trimmer, Scissors (Fiskars), Pop Dots, Tape N Roller Plus (Kokuyo)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I just know that you will want to go buy some of your own Anya and Ian stamps now that you have seen all the great samples throughout the blog hop! So, head on over to The Greeting Farm and get yourself some! You won't regret it!

The Pink Elephant Challenge #10

Hi Everyone!! It is that time again....Monday means that Ella is going to challenge us again with something fun! This week, we are having a color challenge!! The colors to use are light green, pink and pale yellow! You do not have to use them equally, but we do want to be able to easily see all three colors. A neutral is always welcome, but don't make it the main color.

Here is my creation using the colors that Ella prescribed:
Yes, it is another Greeting Farm image. BUT....it is because The Greeting Farm is sponsoring this week's challenge!! They are generously offering an adorable set of stamps to the winner. They also were very generous and donated digi images to the dt to use for our challenges. I have used mine in other things and chose to use one of their regular stamped images for this challenge. This is one of the adorable Miss Anya stamps. There are 3 sweet girls in the set. I think of my girls when I look at them...they are pre-teen/teenage looking little divas!! lol She is all done shopping for the day!
Materials: PAPER: Cascata-yellow, pink, pistachio, Colormates-Heritage White (WorldWin Papers), STAMPS: Miss Anya (The Greeting Farm) INK: Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko) OTHER: Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Embossing Folder-Argyle (ProvoCraft), Lattice Punch (Fiskars), Clear rhinestones-colored green with Sharpie (Kaisercraft), Yellow Ribbon, Pop Dots

With Love from Anya....

Can I tell you all how much I love The Greeting Farm images? I am so in love with them. I love their stamps (great quality rubber that stamps perfectly every time) AND their digi stamps. I just can't seem to get enough of them!!
I made this card using the super cute digi Alice Anya. I think she is just precious.
I have to give credit to my daughter Shanyn. I was making the card and she said that it would be super cute to add the little flower on Anya's headband. She told me that I had better tell all my friends that it was her idea and that the card wasn't quite right until I added that little tiny flower. lol!!!!
Materials: PAPER: Cascata-Salmon, Pistachio, Chocolate (WorldWin Papers), STAMPS: Alice Anya Digi (The Greeting Farm), With Love (Stampa Rosa), INK: Versafine-Vintage Sepia (Tsukineko), Colorbox Fluid Chalk-Old Rose, Lime (Clearsnap) OTHER: Nestabilities-Labels Two, Labels Trio (Spellbinders), Petite Petals/Baby Blooms punches (McGill), Embossing folders-Swiss Dots, D'Vine Swirls, With Love Border (ProvoCraft), Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Twill Tape-salmon, Pop Dots

Springtime Puzzle Piece Magnet

I had this idea come to me when I was laying in bed the other night trying to fall asleep. I am really happy with the results! I made the top portion have showers for April and then layered punched flowers for the bottom to represent May's flowers. The ribbon was just fun to twist around the piece randomly. For complete instructions for this project, you can visit the Paper Crazy blog. It isn't loaded yet, but I am sure by Monday, it will be there. Or you can always email me if you just can't wait.

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a blessed Easter with the ones you love!

Don't Be Square!

Hi everyone! Over on The Greeting Farm blog, they are having a challenge to create cards that aren't square. They can be any shape you want as long as they aren't the traditional rectangular or square cards. Well, I instantly thought of a Nestabilities card since I love making them lately. lol I pulled out Rock Star Anya because I hadn't inked her up yet....gasp....
Here is what I came up with....
I cut out the black card with the Curved Rectangle Nestie. Then, I cut a red panel with the next size down and embossed with the music note Sizzix texture plate. I stamped and colored Anya with Prismacolor pencils/gamsol. Cut her out with a circle Nestie and stamped "ROCK". Inked edges with red ink. Cut out a piece of Basic Grey's Scarlet's Letter paper with scalloped Nestie. Tied ribbons around the card and added the Anya piece. Added punched notes (out of silver mirror cardstock). Covered a chipboard "U" with BG paper and inked.

Well.....I just wasn't happy with this card. I didn't feel it was enough of an odd shaped card for the challenge. I entered it, but knew it wasn't worthy. So, what's a girl to do? Make another one of course!!! So, I had this vision of creating a freestanding Emerald City for the Dorothy Anya digi stamp. And here it is!!!!
I created Emerald City with strips of green cardstock and Stickles. Some of the strips are on pop dots for dimension. Added a door with brown cardstock. I then took a piece of yellow cardstock and lined it up under the door to get the width. Cut it away to make it appear to descend toward the door. Drew the bricks and attached it to the bottom of the card and folded the bottom so the card became "L" shaped. I added Flower Soft for the fields leading up to Emerald City. Then, I took a piece of black cardstock 4" x 4.25" and folded 1/2" of it over. I attached this to back with 3.5" coming toward the front. Folded 1" of the yellow brick road up and added double stick tape to the back of it. Lining up the two edges of cardstock, I pressed them together to create the hill in the road. Then, I printed out Dorothy Anya and Toto and colored them with Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol. Glued them to a stiffer cardstock with spray adhesive and cut them out. I made little tiny triangles of yellow cardstock to create stands for them. Glued them to the back of them and then to the road. This will give you a better view of the depth of the card and the Flower Soft fields.

And where would Dorothy be without her ruby slippers?!?!?!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a creatively wonderful day!

Artistic Outpost - Puzzle Piece Magnet

Here is a magnet I made using the Singing Cowboy plate from Artisitic Outpost. If you have been a regular to my blog for awhile, you will probably know that I am a puzzle piece magnet junkie. I love making them!!

I covered the puzzle piece with Rusty Pickle paper and stamped the image of the cowboy directly on it. Stamped the various words on RP paper and layered them. I added RP buttons randomly around the piece. For the barbed wire, I twisted copper wire and then cut small lengths of the same wire and wrapped them around it every inch or so, leaving the ends sticking out. I was pretty proud of my barbed wire!! lol

Thanks for stoppping by! Have a creatively wonderful day!

The Pink Elephant Challenge #9

Hi everyone!! Its Monday....do you know what that means? It's time for another fun challenge over at The Pink Elephant! This week, we are having a recipe challenge and the ingredients are stamps, punches and embossing. Here is my project:I made a bookmark. My girls are such huge readers and Shanyn is always requesting a new bookmark to use. She likes to alternate them alot. Since it is a bookmark, I didn't use alot of embellishing. I also forgot to be a good recipe follower. Much like when I am in a real kitchen, I kind of strayed. I did stamp...the owl is a stamp. But, once I got it all done, I realized that I hadn't used punches or embossing like I should have. I 'technically' have them both on here....the Nestabilities are embossed and I punched a hole to put the snap eyelet in for the fibers and I rounded the corners with a corner rounder punch. So, they are both there, just not jumping out at you! The words are computer generated.
Materials: PAPER: Colormates-Heritage White, Yellow (WorldWin Papers), DCWV Spring/Blossoms & Butterflies Packs STAMPS: Owl (The Greeting Farm) INK: Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko) OTHER: Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Nestabilities-Circle, Scalloped Circle (Spellbinders), Corner Rounder, Standard Hole Punch, Eyelet Snap, Fibers, Tape N Roller Plus (Kokuyo)

Thanks for stopping by! We hope to see you over at The Pink Elephant! Have a creatively wonderful day!

OCC challenge - Easter

It's time for another challenge at Our Creative Corner! This week, we were asked to use our favorite Easter set. I don't have many Easter stamps, so I chose to use an Easter die set. This is absolutely my favorite!
I also decided to make a small album to put all of our 2009 Easter pictures in. I used lots of bright papers with glitter in it. I cut out chipboard with tabs (2) and covered them with the paper. Cut out the pink plaid paper with my Nestabilities. Die cut the bunny in white and inked the edges with charcoal ink. Cut out the feet pads, ears and nose with pink polka dotted paper. Assembled the bunny and added her to the to the cover. I die cut eggs and added them. Punched grass and added it along the bottom. Punched a butterfly and added that. I then cut out the 'Easter' and '2009' on my Silhouette. Added them to the cover and colored with Stickles. Added Stickles to the butterfly and yellow parts of eggs. I stamped [memories] and cut out with label Nestabilities. Added it to the back cover tab. Cut 4 yellow pages and 4 green pages and alternated them for the inside pages. Punched and bound with Bind It All.
Materials: PAPER: Blossoms & Butterflies (DCWV), Colormates-Luscious Lime, Cascata-blue, yellow, Treasures-white, Crafty Board (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS: Memories (Making Memories) INK: Versafine-Vintage Sepia (Tsukineko), Charcoal (Clearsnap) OTHER: Easter Bunny Die Set-exclusive to Scrapyland.com (Quickutz), Nestabilities-Labels Trio, Curved Rectangles (Spellbinders), Grass Punch (McGill), Butterfly Punch, Stickles-Yellow (Ranger), Inksenntials White gel pen (Ranger), Bind It All & Brown wires (Zutter), Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter, Teen Font

My Space - I can't believe I am showing this!!

I really think that I should clean my 'crap' room as dh lovingly calls it before I share pictures, but oh well....accept that it is a room that gets used A LOT and that is why it is a mess. I shared pictures a long time ago, but thought I would share again since I have added more junk since then.
Here is an overall picture of my TINY studio area.
As you can see, there is just enough room for me in the room. It is a bit decieving though. At the end of my table, there is about 2 feet of space in front of the cabinet. It doesn't go right up to the cabinets. And across from my table, there is a paper storage unit and there is about 1.5 feet in front of that cabinet. So, the floor space is shaped like a "T". Hard to see in this picture, but the shelves that dh put in are filled to the ceiling at the far end with magazines, books, Xyron, etc. You can see that easier in the next two pictures. The right cabinet is ribbon, glitters, beads, embellishments, etc. Above is my decorative scissors in a utensil spinny thingie and more paint, floor wax, kosher salt, spackle and other random stuff for various techniques.
Above is a picture of the small entertainment center I bought for my die cutting station. These are intended to be stacked on top of each other for stereo equipment, etc. But, I just bought one and it works perfectly for my die cutting needs. The baskets on top hold my small embossing folders and my rhinestones and pearls are in the other. Next shelf down: left side is my A2 embossing folders and behind it is all of my plates, cutting mats, shims, embossing mats, etc. Middle shelf is a crate that holds all of my Spellbinders dies in cd cases and my original Sizzix dies. Standing up beside the crate are all of my texture plates and my Nesties that are too long for cd cases. Right shelf is my Wizard. I don't use it as often as my CB, so I keep it in the box.
Bottom is a box of ribbons I recently won for blog candy. The center cubby is Shelby's card making supplies and then to the right is my CB storage folder that holds all of my CB dies, Sizzlets, QK and Bosskut dies.
Above my workspace: the long shelf is 95% inkpads. The two green drawer units are inkpads and random junk (lol). The silver center one holds all of my chipboard alphas by letter.
To the left of my table are a couple of shelves that dh built that hold reinkers, paints, glazes, sprays, Colorwashes, alcohol inks, etc.
Above is another new addition to my room. The cd rack on the wall used to sit on the floor, but dh cut it down a bit and hung it above the new, larger cd cabinet. The top one holds all of my JustRite Stampers stuff. The one on the floor is all unmounted stamps. The bottom baskets hold SU! sets on the left and the right basket holds all of my clear stamps still in their original packages. The iris carts behind that shelf are all mounted stamps (3 deep-I need to purge!). And on the far wall, the right drawer unit is all stamps. The left one contains punches, ephemera, fibers, Twinks/Pearl Ex/Perfect Pearls. The left wood cabinet is my paint and traditional crafting supplies (clay, fabric, etc). Above this cabinet, the drawers hold my embossing powders, watercolors, chalks, etc. To the right of the window, dh put in a shelf up high that holds various spray inks, fixatives, sealers, spray adhesives, spray webbing and Distress Crackle paints. Below that are 6 paper organizers stacked together. They are for offices...slots to hold paper. I got them at Sam's. In front of that on the floor is a bin that I keep all my WWP cardstock in.

As you can see, I have used every inch of space in this room for storage and it still is out of control!! I hope to someday have a much bigger space that I can make all cute and tidy. Right now, I have chosen function over cuteness. I did ask dh if I could put a big shelf unit in front of the window and he wouldn't let me. lol It isn't much, but it keeps me creative. Someday, I will go through and really do a clean out and sell alot of what I have to make more room!
Thanks for stopping by and have a creatively wonderful evening!

Artistic Outpost - Polaroid Cutie

April Fools Day is here and like every other year...I can't come up with a really good prank to play on my family. I will spend most of the day thinking about it and nothing will come to me. I used to be a great prankster...but since I 'grew up', I don't have it in me anymore! lol What about you? Any good April Fool's Day pranks to share?? I'd love to hear them!!!

Today is my day to share something created with Artistic Outpost stamps. If you haven't ever checked out their stamps, please do!! They have gorgeous stamps at great prices. I love that they have a great selection. There is something to suit everyone's taste. Today, I decided to create something with the adorable Polaroid Cutie plate. I just think this little girl is adorable and I haven't ever used the large photo of her, so I figured today was the day to do just that! This is a strange card because I mixed a very distressed, grungey image with some bright cheeriness. I thought it was kind of fun to mix both of my styles on one card. I hope you all think so too!I stamped her on watercolor paper and colored her with Inktense watercolor pencils. Then, I added polka dots to her ribbon and highlights to her eyes with white gel pen. I then used Distress Inks to add the grunge. I distressed the edges and rolled them up at the corners. I used a clipiola and ran bright, cheerful ribbon through it, wrapping it around a black piece of cardstock the I distressed like crazy. Layered it onto an embossed blue card that I inked with black ink. Finally, I stamped the sentiment on watercolor paper, distressed the edges and inked. I added it to a blue piece with a piece of ribbon attached to the back. It is pop dotted on the card for dimension. Very easy card.
Materials: PAPER: Watercolor paper, Colormates-Heritage Black, Dark Belgium Blue (WorlWin Papers), STAMPS-Polaroid Cutie (Artistic Outpost), INK-Versafine-Onyx Black (Tsukineko), Distress Ink-Vintage Photo, Antique Linen (Ranger) OTHER: Inktense Watercolor Pencils, Waterbrush (Niji), Swiss Dots embossing folder (ProvoCraft), Clipiola, Ribbon (American Crafts), Tonic Distressing Tool
