The Pink Elephant Challenge #16
It's time for another fun challenge at The Pink Elephant! This week is a sketch challenge made by your's truly!! I really love this sketch and hope you all will too! I think it is one that can be used to make a very elaborate card or a simple one.
Here is the card that I made.
It is a pretty simple one, but I think it is really fun!! I finally got a chance to ink one of my Wild Sprout images from The Greeting Farm!! This is Dahlia...isn't she sweet? She has two other sisters that are begging to be inked, so watch this space for them soon! I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol. The rest is pretty straightforward. Background embossed, cut circle with my Fiskars circle cutter and embossed, stamped sentiment on strip and attached to card. I added Dahlia on pop dots. Finally, I punched flowes and added dimension with a stylus, layered them and added a tiny rhinestone to the center of each.

IBFS-Tulips!
Do go check out her stamps. There are a TON to choose from and something to suit everyone's style!!! I just had to play today when my new stamps arrived. I made an ATC with these BEAUTIFUL tulips. I fell in love with this stamp, so expect to see it often. lol I painted them with Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is also from IBFS and I thought it went perfectly with the image. I just wish you could see the shimmer....it makes all the difference with this ATC!

My other exciting news is that I GOT A JOB. I haven't worked in 12 yrs since my oldest was 1. So, this is extremely scary for me. But, I really need to work and am lucky that I was able to find a job that I think I will love. I will be working at a credit union and I am a nervous wreck just thinking about it. I start next Wednesday. It is just part time, but I will be working almost every day filling in for the others that are on vacation. But....dont' worry...I will still be creating and posting on my blog. I will work ahead and schedule my posts so you won't even notice that I am gone.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a creatively wonderful day!
Cinema Saturday #32-Twilight
Okay, I'll admit that I am not a HUGE fan of the movie, but of the books, YES!!! So, I just had to play along this week.

The Pink Elephant Challenge #15
I created this card with good intentions.
But, I just wasn't happy with the colors. I printed off the sentiment and then stamped the B on a circle cut from Nesties. I will say that it looks better in person because the deeper tones on the embossed areas are actually glittery and so is the monogram piece. I brayered Versamark on the inside of the folder and then sprinkled glitter ep over the entire panel. But, I just wasn't overly happy with this.
So, I decided to try one more card....
UGH!! This one looked so much better in my head too!! I thought this could be such a cute card, but it just is not cute at all. I decided it was safest to surrender and not try another card.
Oh well...I hope you all play along over at TPE and come up with some fun monogram creations!! I can't wait to see them.
Thanks for stopping by....have a creatively wonderful day!

New Release from Artistic Outpost - Day 4
She-roes and Cracker Jack
For my final day of samples using the beautiful She-roes plate, I made a really fun card using Crafty Creations bag style cards from WorldWin Papers. I just love these cards that look like paper bags and all the work is done for you! You just need to decorate them. I thought this fantastic image of the young girl saluting our flag would look great on one of these cards.

Adding some stickers, rub-ons, punched stars and jute twine, makes this a very fun card to send to the patriotic girl in your life!

Inside, I added the paper that I punched the star from along with the fantastic Maya Angelou quote that comes on the She-roes set.
This concludes my 4 day release party for Artistic Outpost. Now, run, don't walk to get your own new She-roes or Cracker Jack stamps!

New Release from Artistic Outpost - Day 2
Well, anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE to make puzzle piece magnets. As matter of fact, there are many of these up for sale in my Etsy shop (shameless plug lol).
Okay, seriously....I just HAD to make a She-roes puzzle piece magnet to honor the brave women who have fought so hard to ensure I am free. I also want to say that the button in the upper right corner is directly off one of my dh's old dress blues from the Air Force. I just had to add one to this puzzle piece since the girl looks like she is wearing dress blues!
Now, I hope this inspires you to run to Artistic Outpost and order this plate!! It really is beautiful. If this didn't persuade you, maybe tomorrow's creation using She-roes will!!

TPE-Inspirational Play Along
And here are my projects based on it:

I had fun making this one. It isn't really an appealing card, but I am sharing it anyways! lol The turqoise and yellow cardstock started out as a pearlescent heavy weight cardstock. I cut out all of my Nestabilities scalloped circles and then colored them with Luminarte's Radiant Rain Daubers. I wanted a shimmery cardstock and didn't have the right colors, so I made my own. The pink is just plain cardstock. I created a pink card and attached the Nesties to it, stamped the sentiment in the center, added the punched flowers and can send this little card to a friend.

New Releases from Artistic Outpost - Day 1
The woman, USA and the wings are all part of this set. They worked beautifully with the K&Co paper I had in my stash.Enjoy Cracker Jack...
Our love of baseball runs deep. Childhoods were spent at the ballpark either playing ourselves or watching our brothers. At the turn of the century, when baseball became an American passion, gentleman wore hats and ties to the game, the players rode the subway to Ebbets field in Brooklyn, and there was no such thing as the "replay".We hope you enjoy this collection, inspired by the great players, and the original ball clubs that inspired a nation.
A little about She-roes...
Women have always carried half the sky. During WWII, women began carrying their half in the armed forces as well. Whether they were nursing the sick or flying in the Women's Air Corp, this collection celebrates our "she-roes".
Both collection are available in unmounted sheets or pre-cut on EZ Mount cling foam.
Be sure to check out what the all of the other AO designers did with the fantastic
She-roes and Cracker Jack plates!!

Project Tuesday-Paper Clip Bookmark
Mine were super simple to make. I just pulled out my Nestabilites rectangles and circles for these. The first one uses a JustRite Stamper for the monogram. The center one used the digi image Red Riding Hood Anya from The Greeting Farm. I made her SUPER tiny and colored her with Prisma pencils/gamsol. Then I cut her out and mounted her on pop dots. Finally the last one uses the SUPER cute new papers from The Greeting Farm called "Sunny Glen". I love these papers. They are the perfect weight and double sided! The pink paper and the striped paper are one sheet. That sweet little deer is another sheet from the set. Don't you just LOVE The Greeting Farm. I am so addicted!!!Materials: PAPER: Colormates cardstock-berry red, awesome aqua, lovely lilac, spring green, heritage black (WorldWin Papers), Sunny Glen PP (The Greeting Farm) STAMPS: Brayton Font (JustRite Stampers) INKS: Versafine - Onyx Black (Tsukineko) OTHER: Nestabilities-Rectangles, Scalloped Rectangles, Circles, Scalloped Circles (Spellbinders), Embossing Folders-D'Vine Swirls, Swiss Dots (ProvoCraft), Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Paper Clips, Pop Dots

OCC challenge - Sketch

And here is my card for this challenge:
I decided to use it to make my nephew's 16th birthday card. I don't usually do masculine cards well and to be honest, for the past few years, I have purchased my older nephews' birthday cards! GASP! I had an easy time when they were younger boys, but now that they are older, it is difficult for me. But, since Curtis is turning 16, I thought I would use this fabulous old antique truck image from Artistic Outpost on his card and give a more vintage feel. I hope he will like this card.
Materials: PAPER Crafty Creations, Deep Spring Green, Brown Colormates (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS Home (Artistic Outpost), Alphabet Set (unknown) INK Versafine-Vintage Sepia (Tsukineko), Palette Hybrid-Jardin Moss (Stewart Superior) OTHER Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Edge distresser (Tonic), Dew Drops colored with brown Sharpie (Robin's Nest)

Artistic Outpost - Greetings from Home
For this card, I stamped the main image and colored it with chalks and added details with a white pen. Then I stamped the trees twice, cut out and colored with chalk. I then distressed the edges of the main image and layered in onto a panel of kraft colored cardstock that was embossed, edges distressed and inked. I added the trees on different levels with pop dots. Then, I wrapped lengths of jute twine around the card panel, intertwinging around the tree trunks and securing at the back. I unraveled loose ends for texture. I stamped "Home", inked, distressed and layered onto black and added it to the card on pop dots. Finally, I mounted the whole panel onto a black card with pop dots and added black Dew Drops to the top corner.

Project Tuesday-Genie Bag
This week, Stamps and Smiles is celebrating the release of some NEW stamps. All of the actual design team members are using the newly released stamps that will be available to the public on Friday. I thought I should use a Stamps and Smiles stamp too this week, so I used Cuppy Love from the original released sets back in February. I added Ranger's Liquid Pearls to her frosting to make it shimmery and dimensional. It looks beige in the photo, but it is really a pearly white. I colored the rest of the image with Prismas and Gamsol.

One thing I thought I would mention about making this bag....I didn't have an appropriate gift bag to use as the base. But, I did find a clear bag shaped just like a gift bag in my daughters' bathroom. It was one that contained a gift set of hair care products. It had a flap that came over the top, but I just cut that off with my paper trimmer. It is a super thick, sturdy bag and worked great for this. I thought the clear bag made it a bit more unique than just copying a tutorial exactly. Here's a shot of the side so you can see the clear bag. Cool, huh??

The Pink Elephant Challenge #13
I hope you all don't mind that I did two samples this week. First, I wanted to make a stationary set.
I asked my friend Lori Boyd if she minded me printing off the ADORABLE image she drew of me and she said I could!! YIPPEE!!! I know you will all agree with me that Lori needs to get busy making her drawings into stamps or digi stamps!!!! I colored my little 'me' with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. She screamed for a purse, so I drew that, cut it out and attached the main purse with a pop dot, but glued the handles directly so they wouldn't be floating above her hand. Not really much need for instructions. This is pretty straightforward. I also covered a pen and large bulldog clip to coordinate with the journal.
Materials: PAPER Colormates-Heritage Black/White, Cascata-Blue (WorldWin Papers) STAMPS Friendship Blooms (Stampin' Up!), Alphabet (Studio G) INK Versafine-Onyx Black, Versamagic-blue (Tsukineko) OTHER Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Nestabilities-Circle, Scalloped Circle (Spellbinders), Chocolate 4x8 alphabet (Quickutz), Threading Water Punch (Fiskars), Ribbon, Foam tape, Notebook, CropADile, Bulldog clip, pen
Okay, now remember how I told you that I love scallops and circles? Well, not as much as I love Lori's drawings. After doing the stationary set, I wanted to make a magnet out of circles and scallops. So, I called Lori and asked if I could use one of her drawings of her too and she said YES!!
I was so excited to put both of our images on the magnet. I computer generated the sentiment on the main circle. Printed it off and colored the girls with Prismas and Gamsol. I stamped the "you" and "me" and cut everything with Nesties. I assembled it, added a scalloped circle cut from chipboard to the back of the large circle for stability.
Materials: PAPER Pink, Turqoise, Green, White cardstock, Crafty Board(WorldWin Paper) STAMPS Alphabet set (PSX) INK Colorbox Fluid Chalk-Pink, Turqoise, Moss (Clearsnap), Versafine - Onyx Black (Tsukineko) OTHER Prismacolor Pencils/Gamsol, Nestabilities-Circle Scalloped Circle (Spellbinders), Magnet
A huge thank you goes out to Lori Boyd for allowing me to work with her images! I had so much fun coloring these sweet girls!!
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to checkout out what the rest of the TPE design team has done for this challenge. And don't forget to enter yourself!!

Karma Award
I am a bit behind on thanking Libby and Jeanne for this fabulous award they gave me. I feel honored to have you both think of me and my blog when handing out this award!Libby is a friend that I have known for many, many years. She is such a kind and considerate person who creates amazing things with her Cuttlebug. You must check out her blog.
Jeanne is another dear friend of mine. She is such a hoot and creates fabulous work!! Please take a few minutes to check out her blog too!
Thank you to both of you for thinking of me!!!
The wording for this award is as follows:
The Karma Award: These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.
It is always so hard to give this award to 8 people. There are dozens and dozens of blogs that I read each day and I hate singling anyone out as a favorite.
1. LORi Boyd
2. Cindy Haffner
3. Frances Byrne
4. Trudi Wilbur
5. Wendy Pettifer
6. Michi
7. Wanda Hentges
